After over a decade of the original series being absent from North America (and many other locations), last available through DVDs in 2005, Netflix has announced that they have acquired the rights to stream Neon Genesis Evangelion in the spring of 2019.
Often regarded as one of the greatest and most influential anime from the 1990s, Neon Genesis Evangelion sees teenager Shinji Ikari recruited by his father to pilot giant mecha named 'Evangelion' against alien creatures known as 'Angels' as they attack the future city of Tokyo-3. Many, many twists, turns, and emotions ensue.

Neon Genesis Evangleion will be joined by two films, Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death True 2 and The End of Evangelion. For those wanting to revisit the series or have always been curious about it but haven't had a chance to see it, this is great news, not just because it finally gives us a chance to have access to it, but because it will fill that Evangelion hole the fans may have in their heart while waiting for the final Rebuild film that is (hopefully) coming in 2020.

Here is the Netflix trailer released to tide you over until the spring!
